Baking isn’t my day job but it has been a passion ever since I learnt to bake with my mum when I was young. Of course, eating the finished product is always part of the pleasure!
A few years ago, I began creating my own recipes, mainly to reduce consumption of saturated fat as at that time saturated fat was deemed the enemy! I began with biscuits as these traditionally contain a lot of butter. While I had failures initially, I loved experimenting and I loved working at a recipe until I deemed it to be perfect in terms of taste and texture.
I now also experiment with alternative flours, nut flours and reduced sugar, with the aim of providing some nutritional benefit while retaining the pleasure of traditional baking! I believe I have created some formulas which produce cakes and biscuits that can rival traditional recipes! I discuss my recipes in more detail here.

Having said that, from some of the recipes you may glean that I have a sweet tooth and I love chocolate (the high cocoa content variety)! As a former colleague of mine used to say “You gotta enjoy life”!

Frequently when I take a plate of home-baked goods to an event, I am asked for the recipe. The reason for this website is to provide an easy way to share my recipes with anyone who is interested.
I also dabble in cake decorating and chocolate making; future posts may encompass those endeavours!
Thanks for visiting my site. It will always be a work in progress so please do come back and visit again soon. You may wish to subscribe to notifications (over on the right) which will email you when a new recipe is posted.
Looking forward to trialling your experimental gluten free recipies!!!
Hi, Julie. Thanks for visiting my site and good luck with the baking! Remember to stop by again or sign-up for notifications of new posts.
Yum! I will definitely be signing up – as someone with Coeliac disease I am thrilled to see you post lots of gluten free recipes. I’m not patient enough to cope with the GF disasters that inevitably happen so thanks for taking all the hard work away from me, leaving me with fab recipes!
Thanks, Angela, and happy baking! 🙂
